One of the most powerful earthquakes ever recorded occurred near Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula at approximately 11:25 AM local time on 30 July. The earthquake has led to widespread tsunami warnings in countries across the Pacific Ocean. We are delighted to share that Iqarus, a subsidiary of International SOS, played a key role in supporting the Honourable Artillery Company’s (HAC) Everest Expedition. This historic journey set out to become the first mixed-gender British Army team to summit Everest. Our Iqarus team provided on-the-ground paramedic care throughout the expedition — from base camp rotations to the final summit push. In partnership with Black Space Technology, they also trialled innovative wearable health telemetry at extreme altitudes. This cutting-edge technology enabled real-time monitoring of vital signs, including oxygen saturation, heart rate, and respiratory rate, in one of the world’s harshest environments.
