This week, VillageCareMAX had the pleasure of welcoming Meg Murray and Christine Aguiar Lynch from Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP), along with some of our fellow New York Safety Net Health Plans, as part of their efforts to visit different regions of the country. ACAP represents over 80 not-for-profit, community-driven health plans like ours that are committed to serving our members and their communities. Today marks a major milestone in American health care. On July 30, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed both Medicare and Medicaid into law—expanding access to health care for millions of older adults, people with disabilities, and low-income families. At VillageCareMAX, we serve dual-eligible individuals who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. Our mission is rooted in ensuring that care remains accessible, compassionate, and community-based. Our plans are designed to meet their unique needs and help them live independently—with dignity and support. What an action-packed day at the VillageCareMAX Bronx Community Center! ?? We joined forces with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for an informative session with our members and the community on health and mental well-being! Together, we tackled the impacts of vape, e-cigarettes, and tobacco on overall health, while providing resources for those looking to quit. A big shoutout to Mosholu Montefiore Community Center, Inc. (MMCC) for assisting with valuable resources on Real ID, OMNY, and legal aid for housing and immigration. We finished off the day by distributing fresh fruits, courtesy of Sharing Excess —Mandarins, Strawberries, Lemons, and Yellow Peppers—to promote healthy eating.
